Salute to all Women in Construction!

In celebration of 2024 Women In Construction Week and Women’s History Month, we were proud to be a national sponsor of the National Association of Women in Construction’s (NAWIC) 26th annual Women in Construction Week!

Many of our offices enjoyed a variety of events showcasing the role of women in the A/E/C industry. We are thankful for our Women of W.E. O’Neil (“WOW”) chapters who organized a range of activities, alongside internal and external partners nationwide, making this year’s Women in Construction Week truly unforgettable.

We salute the many women in construction who bring their talent and years of experience to the challenging projects that we build, from small tenant improvements to towering skyscrapers!

California

Our California “WOW” committee, in collaboration with our partners from Los Angeles World Airports and others, organized a day dedicated to celebrating Women In Construction. The day featured an insightful onsite tour of LAX’s Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) South, followed by a luncheon. Later in the day, the WOW committee arranged a self-defense class led by Jennifer Cassetta, author and third-degree black belt. Wrapping up the festivities, attendees gathered for a jubilant happy hour, marking the third anniversary of the WOW committee’s presence in California.

Arizona

Our Arizona office facilitated a virtual industry panel discussion for all our Arizona employee-owners. This event gathered several influential leaders in our industry to share insights on achieving success, navigating career challenges, overcoming obstacles, and envisioning improvements in collaboration with general contractors in the future.

Our panel of industry experts were: Shannon Cox-Baker (Regional Vice President, Pennrose Company), Susan Byram (Senior Vice President of Design and Construction, Plaza Companies), and Heidi Jorgensen Begeot (keynote speaker, corporate trainer, certified high-performance coach).

Stephanie Cotey on REjournal's 5th Annual Women in CRE Summit

Stephanie, Senior Director of Project Services in our Chicago office, alongside other prominent female leaders in the industry joined more than 230 CRE professionals to celebrate the increasing influence of women in commercial real estate at Illinois REjournal’s 5th annual Women in CRE Summit.

Adding to the significance of this year’s event, in collaboration with cancer nonprofits Fighting Pretty and Gilda’s Club of Chicago, $1,100 worth of Fighting Pretty Strength & Beauty Kits were raised to benefit 110 cancer patients across the Chicago area.

Annette Pulliam, SDBJ's Women of Influence in Construction of 2024

Congratulations, Project Manager Annette Pulliam for being recognized as one of San Diego Business Journal’s Women of Influence in Construction!

Annette is an exemplary woman in the industry, managing projects across southern California. A construction leader with over ten years of experience, she joined our team as a project engineer and quickly rose from assistant project manager to project manager. Annette is a shining example of our core vision, mission, and values. We are so grateful you are part of the W.E. O’Neil family.
