Scope 33 acre Community & Recreation Center to support this impoverished south side community including indoor athletic facilities with water park, pool, gym, fitness center, running track, and locker rooms; family and education services area with community rooms, counseling rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms, computer labs, and offices; auditorium for performance and worship use; and outdoor tennis courts, basketball courts, mini-golf, track, and soccer field. Some of the features that help contribute to the LEED Silver status are the construction waste recycling program that is being utilized, the use of ultra-low flow plumbing fixtures, the use of green roof and thermo-plastic roofing to mitigate the heat island effect of the building, and the redevelopment of a brownfield site.
