Located on the beautiful island of Coronado in San Diego Bay, this one-classroom high school provides an educational environment for at-risk students in the Coronado Unified School District. The design elements define interior and exterior spaces and create a transition from the “public” to “private” seamlessly.
Entry to this building is unique. When entering from the street, you are transported through a series of changes in direction, allowing for open views through breezeways directing you to the back of the site, where the classroom is. These open breezeways also allow natural light to reach the spaces within.
At only 2,400 SF, the classroom building is a simple Type V wood framed and plaster construction. Interior spaces consist of offices, a classroom, and restrooms.
Site improvements include site development and four post-tension tennis courts completed for the City of Coronado.
