University of Southern California, Temporary Dining

This new dining facility provided food preparation and full-service dining facilities while the existing Campus Commons Building was under construction.

The 20,000 SF dome-shaped structure functioned for two years. The facility occupied Parking Lot K at Downey Way, flanked by the Seaver Science Complex on the West, Grace Ford Salvatore Hall on the north, and East of the Hedco Science building.

The project employed a sprung temporary stress membrane building for the public areas supported by a modular kitchen complex, washrooms, and office space. The facility provided seating for 556 patrons and toilet and locker facilities. Among the interior elements are large-screen video arrays for viewing sports and other events that take advantage of the ample open space.
