Four Key Promotions in Chicago

W.E. O’Neil Construction recently promoted four key individuals within its Chicago office to support the company’s growth

LOU REINER, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS  |  Lou joined W.E. O’Neil in 1978 and has advanced his career from a Project Engineer through field operations and management to a Project Executive and Senior Vice President of Operations. As Executive Vice President of Operations, Lou will oversee field operations on all of W.E. O’Neil’s projects. His expertise is in providing leadership and accountability for large project teams over long durations, and he has demonstrated excellent management skills specifically on projects that require optimization of resources and performance motivation. Over the course of his career, Lou has delivered many of W.E. O’Neil’s most prominent projects, including the Block 37 retail and office development, LondonHouse Hotel, DePaul University Theatre School and Gurnee Mills Mall.

HERB DAWSON, PROJECT EXECUTIVE  |  Herb has been with W.E. O’Neil since 1985 and has held nearly every role within the company, most recently as a Senior Project Manager. He is now a Project Executive, currently responsible for delivering American Airlines’ newest aircraft hangar at O’Hare International Airport. Throughout Herb’s career, he has displayed a talent for managing complex projects with intricate building systems, including The University of Chicago Eckhardt Research Center, Block 37 retail and office development, Crown Fountain in Millennium Park and the rehabilitation of the Chicago Theatre.

CHAD HUBER, PROJECT EXECUTIVE  |  Chad joined W.E. O’Neil in 1998 as a Project Engineer in our Special Projects Group and quickly grew within the company. He has held many operational roles, most recently as a Senior Project Manager, leading both new construction and complicated renovation projects for clients such as Nordstrom, Marriott, The University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratories. His expertise in managing customer expectations on challenging projects has proven crucial to W.E. O’Neil’s success. Chad is currently overseeing the Belmont Village Senior Living development in Lincoln Park, as well as the Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott at 208 S. LaSalle Street.

CARY ZARATE, ESTIMATING MANAGER  |  Cary has worked for W.E. O’Neil since 2000 and has over 30 years of experience in construction cost consulting, field operations and estimating. He has served as Senior Estimator for the past several years, bringing projects such as the Lincoln Common development (old Children’s Memorial Hospital site), Nordstrom Michigan Avenue and the Block 37 retail and office development from concept to construction. As Estimating Manager, Cary will oversee W.E. O’Neil’s team of estimators and continue to ensure that our clients receive the most cost-effective solutions for their projects.
