NEXT on LEX Topping Out

CALIFORNIA | On Thursday, June 1st, 2017, W.E. O’Neil kicked-off summer with a “topping out” barbecue to celebrate the completion of the podium deck on two of the four buildings at the Century West Partners NEXT on LEX, residential project, as well as the project team’s safe and successful work record. Following the pouring of the concrete podium, the four levels of wood framing above the podium began.

All the subcontractors that were currently working on the jobsite or had future work were invited to the barbeque. That included Calcrete Construction Inc., Larrabure Framing, Simons Electric, Century West Plumbing, LDI Mechanical, Browning Fire Protection, HCI, etc. Also included was the owner, Fifield, and design team: KFA, Englekirk, KPFF, and TAD Engineering.

Senior Superintendent Charlie Felan was proud to announce that, “We’ve had about 197,000 man hours on the job and we’ve only had one accident. That means you guys are doing a great job and you’re understanding all of our safety rules and you’re trying to comply with all of them and we all appreciate that because you know we don’t want any accidents on the job, we don’t want anyone to get hurt”.

Following the celebration speech for their tremendous safety efforts, Charlie presented the lucky winners of a raffle with prizes of gear, gift cards, and tool sets.

This project will feature 494 beautiful apartment units on the corner of Central Avenue and Lexington Drive in downtown Glendale. With three levels of underground parking, two spas, one pool, a fitness center and an outdoor barbecue and fire pit area, these apartments will provide a safe, convenient, and luxurious home to many.
